Atlas' Fate: Between Light & Darkness is a 3rd person stealth game where you take control of a stealth expert with the ability to merge with the shadows. This power allows him to move without being seen, move through walls, cushion falls or pass through obstacles. It has been developed by 7 students as "portfolio" and made in a custom engine programmed from scratch.
History
Atlas' Fate: Between Light & Darkness was born in 2017-2018 during the Master in Creation of Videogames, at the University Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona, Spain). We had to think an innovative game-mechanic and build a game around that, and that's when the shadow-merging idea came up. In stealth games hiding in the shadows is a very common thing, but we wanted to take it a step further by allowing to merge into the shadows, literally. Everybody loved the idea, so we started thinking different ways to use and reinforce that mechanic.
During 9 long months, we have been developing the game you see finally here. It has been a huge effort, as it is programmed using a custom engine made from scratch during the Master, but we think the result is worth it.
